    我是Shelley。今天下午給您的辦公室打了電話(huà)，碰巧您當(dāng)時(shí)不在辦公室。我在申請(qǐng)北師大與美國(guó)校際交換留學(xué)項(xiàng)目。希望您能夠給我寫(xiě)一封推薦信。如果您能夠親自寫(xiě)，相信效果一定會(huì)非常好。因?yàn)轫?xiàng)目申請(qǐng)截止到本月15日，我也是昨天才知道的。時(shí)間比較緊，如果您能抽出時(shí)間，不勝感激。另外，專(zhuān)業(yè)選擇上也請(qǐng)您多多指教。我目前選擇的是以下兩個(gè)方向：

    1。 English Department主要偏重于英文寫(xiě)作。

    2。Modern Language and Literature Department主要是第二外語(yǔ)習(xí)得方面。對(duì)于我來(lái)說(shuō)學(xué)習(xí)側(cè)重于英語(yǔ)教學(xué)法 TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.尤其感興趣的是在這個(gè)學(xué)院還可以選修拉丁語(yǔ)。目前我更傾向于第二個(gè)，也就是英語(yǔ)教學(xué)法。希望得到您的指點(diǎn)。 Shelley

    第一，我也覺(jué)得第二個(gè)比較好，因?yàn)?，在你們之后的一個(gè)班級(jí)中也有一位來(lái)自北師大的老師，她是給老外講漢語(yǔ)的那個(gè)學(xué)院。她告訴我說(shuō)，我的教學(xué)方式和造詞理論在目前語(yǔ)言教學(xué)領(lǐng)域中屬于一種很先進(jìn)的方法和理論（我沒(méi)有記住這個(gè)專(zhuān)業(yè)術(shù)語(yǔ)），只是許多教師停留在理論階段，而我雖然沒(méi)有接觸這種語(yǔ)言學(xué)理論，但我確實(shí)好像處于這種理論的實(shí)踐階段。因此，我的上課內(nèi)容也許對(duì)您有所參考，您也許可以把這種理論和方法從語(yǔ)言專(zhuān)業(yè)的角度發(fā)揚(yáng)光大。

    第二，關(guān)于推薦信，我從來(lái)就沒(méi)有寫(xiě)過(guò)。最重要的是，我不屬于語(yǔ)言教學(xué)的圈子，因此，我的外行話(huà)很難有所價(jià)值。我的建議是，您自己參考相關(guān)資料寫(xiě)一篇推薦信，然后找您熟悉并且熟悉您業(yè)務(wù)能力的語(yǔ)言學(xué)教授簽字即可，國(guó)內(nèi)留學(xué)生基本上都是這種作法。當(dāng)然，也有一些公司專(zhuān)門(mén)做這項(xiàng)服務(wù)，只是那些公司是為不懂英語(yǔ)或者不懂國(guó)外教育背景的人服務(wù)的。祝一切順利！

    二、本科生如何準(zhǔn)備推薦信

    Dear Dr. Liu,

    In no longer than a month, i will be a freshman in one of the most famous and beautiful campus in Beijing, and hereby i am so appreciate that remarkable summer holidays we spent together in 2005, which surely changed my attitudes toward those seemingly stupid English words, just as you say in the textbook, now to gain the cognition of the world, to express the world: ).

    But i have more exciting stories to share with you, i am now applying for American Universities after a month's preparation of both SAT-1 and SAT-2. those times were tough and painful, which makes me realized how much you should pay for your future success, yet i can tell you that my pain was somehow alleviated, but pity it didn't clear off...Tests are one thing, while application is another, another thing that is much, much more enduring than to take the test twice in the U.S.. And let me get this straight, i would like you to help me a bit with the recommendation work, at first i was thinking maybe you could write me a recommendation letter in the way my parents have suggested, but soon i changed my mind. There were so many students ever running into your life, how could you possibly remember them all? ( or maybe you will). And honestly speaking, few teachers in our school pays attention to the college application overseas, and therefore they always say they were too busy to help...(what? they will definitely be regretted if i ended up in Yale); However, that's the truth, so , as other freshmen applicants in China, i was trying to write the recommendation myself and bring them to the teacher instead...Yep, my headteacher was exceptional, she was the only one who helped me write a recommendation letter with enthusiasm, and this time, i was thinking if you could kindly help me with the translation work...The letter is not so long, yet moving and true. I don't wanna translate it myself because i have "intervened" so many recommendation letters. So, i would like to make this very real letter worth its while and therefore looking forward to your help.

    i'd be so appreciate if you'd like to help with me, even only give me some instructions...and this appreciation will lead me to strengthen my drive, to go on fulfilling my dreams with almighty, to thanking you as one of my greatest teachers, which i surely felt when i struck that word in the vey first line of this email——Dear Dr. Liu.

    第一，你的英語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力已經(jīng)非常非常好——比我都好，你完全可以自己翻譯。

    第二，國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)生的推薦信基本上都是自己寫(xiě)好之后，請(qǐng)相關(guān)的老師簽字，但一定要實(shí)事求是。

    第三，最好咨詢(xún)一下相關(guān)的公司或者中介，他們都有專(zhuān)門(mén)的推薦信服務(wù)業(yè)務(wù)。原因如下：（1）：他們熟悉推薦信的格式和文體。一個(gè)寫(xiě)詩(shī)歌的人并不一定能夠?qū)懶≌f(shuō)，而一個(gè)能寫(xiě)小說(shuō)的人往往寫(xiě)不了領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的發(fā)言稿。（2）：他們熟悉相國(guó)國(guó)家的價(jià)值觀(guān)。一些中國(guó)學(xué)生自認(rèn)為的優(yōu)點(diǎn)并不一定就是外國(guó)學(xué)校承認(rèn)的優(yōu)點(diǎn)，而一些中國(guó)學(xué)校認(rèn)為的缺點(diǎn)有可能就是國(guó)外學(xué)校承認(rèn)的優(yōu)點(diǎn)。
